Performance index of petroleum resin for hot melt adhesive
When formulating hot-melt adhesives and pressure-sensitive adhesives, the matrix resin only has cohesive force when it is melted at a certain temperature. Once the temperature drops, the cohesion will decrease or even lose its cohesive ability.
Adding petroleum resin to the elastomer can not only improve the viscosity and wettability of the hot melt adhesive, improve the surface contact effect and characteristic bonding performance, and obtain an ideal balance between viscosity, cohesive strength and interface strength; By adjusting the rheology of the adhesive, increasing the glass transition temperature of the mixture, and adjusting the heat resistance temperature of the hot melt adhesive, the use environment of the hot melt adhesive is expanded.
As an amorphous petroleum resin polymerized from mono- and di-olefins with complex components, there is no fixed melting point, and the ring and ball softening point of the resin becomes an important factor in determining the performance of the resin. Other physical properties of petroleum resin such as chromaticity, compatibility, melt viscosity, acid value and iodine value are also important factors determining the application field of petroleum resin.
